We are actively engaged in Health Education and fitness and are always willing to discuss this with you.
Well Woman Clinics
Your Doctor or Practice Sister will carry out cervical smear, offer contraception advice and menopause counselling.
Child Health Surveillance
These include well baby clinics, development assessments and immunisation.
These clinics are carried out by the doctors and health visitor for all children from birth to five years of age, by appointment.
Child Health Clinic
Child health clinics are held every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Baby milk is also available from the clinic at this time. Child immunisation clinics are held on Wednesday morning from 10.00am to 11.00am.
Family Planning
A full range of family planning services is available with the help of a family planning trained nurse. This includes the pill, coil fitting (advice only), coil check, emergency contraception.
You need to inform the reception staff when an appointment for a coil fitting is required as this appointment needs both doctor and nurse.
Minor Surgery
This clinic is held at frequent intervals as and when necessary.
Acupuncture-Hypnotherapy-Manipulation
This service is available to all our patients.
Please speak to Dr Prasad about a possible referral to this service.
Cryo Cautery Clinic
This clinic is held on the first Friday of every month.
Medical check-ups
We give medical check-ups and consultations for new patients, a three yearly medical check for patients between the ages of 16 and 74 and annual medical checks for patients over the age of 75 years.
Health Visitor
Our health visitor is a trained nurse with midwifery experience. She will give advice on health care and child development to mothers and babies and small children and
to patients over 75 years of age.
Andrea Blenkiron is available at the surgery on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

You can see the health visitor if you have children under 5 years of age with any of the following conditions:
- Feeding problems
- Sleep problems
- Hearing problems
- Conjunctivitis
- Nappy rash, if you need cream or ointment
- Oral suspension for thrush

- Paracetamol for colds etc.
- Constipation
- Mild eczema (not steroid cream)
- Thread worm
- Head lice treatments

Chiropodist
A chiropodist visits the surgery regularly to see diabetic patients. The service is available
to patients over 65 years in community clinic.
Physiotherapy
Patients will be referred to the physiotherapist when appropriate.
The physiotherapist has weekly clinics at the surgery.
Counselling
A counsellor is available for anxiety/stress management, behavioural and emotional problems.
Please see a doctor to discuss the matter who will then refer you if necessary.
Health Care Assistant
Our health care assistant is a member of the nursing team and will carry out health assessments on newly registered patients,
e.g. blood pressure checks, urine testing, height and weight. These details will be documented with your medical record.
In April 2001 Westwood Clinic became a Personal Medical Services pilot (PMS).
We are able to provide faster and more convenient access to a healthcare professional
within the practice, to improve the use of skill mix within the primary health care team,
thus providing patients with increased choice and availability of healthcare professional.
Car Parking
There is a large practice car park in front of the building.
Disabled Patients
Separate ramp access and toilet facilities are available.
